Legends of Tomorrow (DC's Legends of Tomorrow) is a US-American science fiction television series about figures from the DC universe, which has been broadcasting on the radio station The CW since 21 January 2016 . The series is a branch of the series Arrow and The Flash and plays in the same fictitious series universe. In Germany the broadcasting of the series is planned for the Free TV station ProSieben from 30 August 2016 onwards.
In March 2016 the series was extended by a second season. The broadcast is scheduled for October 13, 2016.To protect the world from its downfall, Rip Hunter, a time master, travels back to the year 2016 to build a team to prevent Vandal Savage from destroying the world and time itself. Another reason is that Hunter's wife and son are killed by Savage. He can not cope with this and breaks the rules of the "Time Master" to change the past.
On January 11, 2015, Greg Berlanti announced that there were first talks about a spin-off series of Arrow and The Flash, which is about the character Ray Palmer aka The Atom. Earlier, Brandon Routh, who already appeared as Superman in Superman Returns in a role of DC Comics in 2006, signed the character The Atom in the series Arrow. In the follow-up, it was reported that negotiations are being held on a series of superbrands, which will be held by a superhelden team and will be released by the end of 2015 and early 2016 respectively. Various figures, which already played a central role in the series Arrow and The Flash, will also play a major role in the new series. In addition to Brandon Routh as The Atom, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold and Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein aka Firestorm should slip into one of the main roles of the series. In addition to Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Sarah Schechter are to take part as executive producers.
Stephen Amell, the lead character of the Arrow series, confirmed in March 2015 that the series will start in the middle of the 2015/16 season. In addition, it was announced that at the end of the still running Season 3 of Arrow, to the beginning of the planned series will play. In the same month, Dominic Purcell was confirmed in the role of Heatwave for roles. In May 2015 Victor Garber announced that the shooting of the series would begin in August 2015. He also said that the first episode of the series should be broadcast in January 2016. On May 7, 2015 the series was officially announced and the title of DC's Legends of Tomorrow officially announced. A week later, The CW released the first trailer for the series, featuring the superhero team, which is about DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Green Arrow was also on display. During the rest of the month, Caity Lotz has confirmed that she will play her role as Sarlance of Arrow in DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and she will appear as White Canary in the series. Also, in the same month, the character Vandal Savage became a central villain in the series that wants to destroy time and the world. In June it was announced that Phil Klemmer will be showrunner of the series. And that also Grant Gustin as Barry Allen aka The Flash in the series occurs.
At the San Diego Comic Con in July 2015 another trailer of the series was presented. Hawkman will also be performing alongside Hawkgirl as part of the event. In the sequel, Casper Crump was cast as villain Vandal Savage. At the end of November, Peter Roth, President of the TV group at Warner Bros., announced that DC's Legends of Tomorrow should be premiered on 21 January 2016 in The United States on The CW.
